In 2019, Claiborne Memorial Medical Center (CMMC) in Homer, LA, was the recipient of two “Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP)” grants from the Federal Office of Rural Health’s Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA).

We partnered with the Claiborne Parish District Attorney’s Office, the Claiborne Parish School Board, Hope & Healing Hands (non-profit), and Lincoln Nova Vital Recovery Center to form the “North Louisiana Rural Opioid Healthcare Network.” This consortium has been tasked with identifying and proposing sustainable solutions to address the growing opioid epidemic as it impacts the rural north central region of Louisiana.

Per a requirement of the HRSA Opioid Planning Grant, the “North Louisiana Rural Opioid Healthcare Network” is hosting a regional forum, the North Louisiana Rural Opioid Summit, to discuss the opioid epidemic as it impacts the rural north central region of Louisiana.

This forum is open to everyone in the community and is free to attend. We encourage participation by law enforcement, healthcare workers, first responders, clergy, public servants, civic leaders, people in education, parents and concerned citizens. The summit will be held February 18, 2020, at the lovely and historic Homer High School in Claiborne Parish. A catered lunch by local favorite THE UPPER CRUST will be provided!
